Left

Yea the one that you left
is a grand succes.
Yea the one that you left
got a job and is well dressed.
Yea we're all so proud,
we're all so impressed;
We all speak highly
of the one that you left.
Yea the one that you left
doesn't have in his breast
that which burns in yours.
Yea the one that you left
doesn't need to hide
what you have concealed
in your chest of drawers.
Well the one that you left,
a few steps ahead of the rest;
Some say he's cursed, and
others say blessed.
Others say blessed.

Missing
05:08
|
|||
The day that you went missing
nobody said a word.
When they saw I was not looking for you,
they scattered like a flock of birds.
And I don't wonder why
I didn't see it gathering in the sky,
Or read the writing on the wall;
They say a man who only sees what he wants to -
he doesn't see anything at all.
I raised a flag in your absence,
and kept it at half-mast.
And the world kept spinning 'round and we,
we went to sleep at last.
And when I finally awoke,
and I found I was alone,
I didn't wonder why
I didn't see it gathering in the sky,
or read the writing on the wall;
They say a man who only sees what he wants to -
he doesn't see anything at all.
The day that you went missing
the whole town stayed indoors.
They went to bed early,
left their TVs on,
and locked all their doors.
And I stayed awake.
I went to all the usual places.
And I did not hide.
I sought out all the usual faces.
And I don't wonder why
I didn't see it gathering in the sky,
or read the writing on the wall.
Cause I'm a man who only sees what he wants to,
so I don't see anything at all.

Rainfall
04:37
|
|||
Beautiful friends,
they're meeting all their ends.
and I'll play my part for now;
The only part I know.
Let the rain fall on the street, put you to sleep.
I'll be back to feel your heartbeat in your hand,
You can be whatever you ever want to,
there's a place I've waited so long to give you.
Who's keeping score?
Is this a game anymore?
Have I been wrong to take you this far?
I don't think so.

Anchor
04:48
|
|||
Anchor on the bow
waiting to find the ocean ground,
if I don't drop you now,
I never will.
But sinking you will leave me here,
only again to be commandeered,
oh if I don't cut you loose now,
I never will.
I will, I will, I will submerge you,
like I've done so many times.
Finally, finally, finally let you rest
beneath the ever shifting tide.
And lighter though my load may be,
I'll remain bound to the open sea,
oh if I don't sail away now,
I never will.

Build
06:00
|

I wanna carve a road like the one I used to travel with you.
At the borderline two roads combined and we crossed on through.
I wore my soles down to the skin,
to find the state that you were in.
It'll take a lifetime, or two,
Well no home was built in just one day.
And if it means a lifetime with you,
well I know I'm better off that way.
I wanna build a home, I wanna build a city with you;
Turn this pile of stones into something pretty with you.
I work myself down to the bone,
it's the only way I know.
